ZEN TIME
Enjoy the Zen of the everyday event
Interact with nature and time
People and places and all things sentient
Delight in daily routine
Comfort of pure cotton shirts
Breakfast eggs and morning newspapers
Walking in the city of tall buildings
Windows and everything that there is
Search for the sublime
Silent emotion within a silver ingot
Caress the surface of sweet rosewood
Experience transcendental awareness
Perfection of dharma circles
Wsidom of Zen Masters
A single flower in the Zen tea room
Small gardens of swept stones and rocks
Filled with vast rivers and distant mountains
Memories of moments and centuries
All trees are Buddha trees
Landscapes of calm minds
Morningtide Noontide Eventide Zen
Then it is time to start all over again
The Zen of now
Future Zen
Welcome each new season
First signs of spring
Autumn afternoon in Stockholm
Follow the Way
Do not ask why
Do not ask when
Zen time helps to cope with natural disasters
To deal with evil spirits called maras
There is sanctuary in tranquility
Oblique koans to question reality
Zen in the art of Zen
Free the mind
Clear of obvious thinking
Inner knowledge without obstruction
Calm meditation controlling your every action
Confidence and calm satisfaction
Of absolute perfection
Resulting from practice and application
Profound detached primordial mysticism
Think beyond Zen
Zen extends beyond words
Clarity of the Ultimate
Creative enlightenment
Beyond time and the cosmos
A Zen Master reached for the Moon
Long before Nasa
There are no limits to Zen
This poem is Zen
Zen makes Zen
EVERYDAY EVENTS
Most of us make history in quiet obscurity
We welcome each new day
Without wanting the Nobel Prize for glory
Few fly to New York to meet heads of states
Score centuries at Lords
Win millions of pounds in lotteries
Hold exhibitions at famous galleries
Existence instead is everyday events
Quietly raising a family
Enjoying a summer holiday
Catching a bus to Gamages
Few run a mile in four minutes
Or travel to the moon in rockets
We just need a few shillings in our pockets
A neat kitchen with electric sockets
Personal fame is gained by working steadily each day
By paying the rent come what may
Keeping to a calm routine
On that you can rely
Accommodating every changing season
Time to watch girls go by
Contentment is attained
By enjoying the zen of the everyday event.
